When I first began claying seriously and got an extruder… they were all these little metal ones with difficult to press plungers. Combine this with the fact that the only clay I could lay hands on was Fimo classic and you could pretty much guarantee I wasn’t playing with the extruder much.
Fast forward about 10 years and better stuff came on the market. I picked up a Makin’s Professional extruder and it was heavenly. These days there are several other options as well. This has lead to an explosion of really great extruder work being done including some beautiful canes. This photo tutorial by Jessica Almqvist-Nilsson is just one example of a lovely pattern cane taking advantage of the precise shapes, good colour choice and an understanding of repeating themes creating larger, detailed images.

I just created the tutorial and it’s awesome. I want to share on Facebook and tag your site. Are you ok with that? Thanks. Vickie.
