Violet Laporte has a good tip for how to get those perfect, thin slices you want from your mokume gane stacks. Instead of curving your blade (which I have done and broken, oops), trying curving your stack by placing it on a glass jar or other gently curved container and using a more rigid blade for precise control. This way your stack is curved about the same percentage the whole time and you’ll have a simpler time of taking even slices.
