When I was growing up (in polymer clay) we called all of the white and translucent canes that you’d layer over the rest of your canes “ghost” canes because the effect is like that – a design ghosting over the top of your complex pattern. Here’s a nice lace cane variant of bubbles that would make a great accent or, literally, bubbles for a watery scene. Jessama has lots of takes on good, classic canes, nicely video’d and explained with lots of good examples. You can find those on her site.
