It must be in the air. I got asked for ladybug canes the other day, twice, and sent the nice askers pieces of cane. It got me looking at who else had made ladybug canes and discussed it online. Turns out Carolyn Good posted a very general photo of what she’d done and linked to something Joan Tayler had done a while back.
This is a great bug cane to do – it doesn’t rely on clever blends and shading. The colours and pattern are iconic enough that even a stylized version like these make very convincing ladybugs indeed.
