Here’s a cute idea for an essential oil diffuser for your car. I appreciate that the authors updated their post once they had tested their project for a bit and received feedback.
As a polymer clayer I know that oils and clays are tricky. If I were to do this project I would probably make a polymer clay holder for a piece of porous material – a piece of bisque would be great – and you could do it by cutting out two pieces like the writers did and then sandwiching your porous material in between. Leave the top open to add drops of oil to and there you go.
If you don’t do pottery and don’t have broken bisque pieces everywhere may need to try other solutions like bits of loofah or even a slip of terry. All of these bake just fine with polymer clay.
You can also temporarily scent your polymer clay by mixing a little scented oil INTO it as you condition it. I’m not sure how useful it would be for this application but it’s one solution. Remember that oil really softens your clay. If you’re already using Sculpey 3, a very soft product, you’ll perhaps want to add some sort of support for your shape to keep it from easily breaking in use.
You can use these oils in a diffuser in a massage blend or add a few drops to a carrier oil and use it in an Essential oil roller.
