16 Christmas Tree Ornaments You Can Make With Polymer Clay

December 10, 2020 by Shellie Wilson

It’s never too late to make some handmade Christmas ornaments. These Christmas tree ornaments are all made using Polymer Clay or a Fimo clay.  You could substitute the polymer clay with an airdrying clay if that is all you have on hand, but if you haven’t already tried crafting with polymer clay then I highly recommend you give it a go. These craft tutorials or clay tutorials are easy to make and perfect for beginners clay makers.

Welcome to my tutorial on how to make eight festive Christmas ornaments using polymer clay! Polymer clay is a fun and versatile medium that can be molded, shaped, and baked to create all sorts of decorative objects. As someone who has worked with polymer clay for many years, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks along the way that I’d love to share with you.

First, it’s important to choose the right clay for your project. There are many different brands of polymer clay on the market, each with its own unique properties. Some clays are softer and easier to work with, while others are more brittle and prone to cracking. I personally prefer Fimo clay, which is a soft and pliable clay that hardens when baked in an oven.

Before you start working with the clay, it’s a good idea to knead it to make it soft and pliable. This will make it easier to shape and mold. You can also use a clay conditioning machine or roll it out with a rolling pin to make the clay even softer and easier to work with.

When it comes to shaping and molding the clay, you can use a variety of tools, including your hands, clay sculpting tools, and cookie cutters. Just remember that the clay will harden when it’s baked, so it’s important to work quickly and get the shape you want before it becomes too stiff.

Once you’ve shaped your clay into the desired form, it’s time to bake it in the oven. Follow the instructions on the clay package for the correct baking temperature and time. After the clay has cooled, you can sand it, drill holes in it, or paint it to finish your project. You can also use a sealant to protect the clay and give it a glossy finish.

I hope these tips are helpful as you get started on your Christmas ornaments. Happy crafting!

Wondering how to bake polymer clay? make sure you read the instructions on the brand of clay you are using to get the best result for the product.

One of the great things about making your own Christmas ornaments with clay is that you can personalize them to your liking. Not only do handmade ornaments add a personal touch to your holiday decorations, but they can also make thoughtful gifts for friends and loved ones. Imagine the delight of receiving an ornament that has been handmade just for you!

There are so many different things you can do with polymer clay to create ornaments. You can use cookie cutters to create simple shapes, or use clay sculpting tools to create more detailed designs. You can even use stamps or other texturing tools to add texture and pattern to the clay. The possibilities are endless!
