I consider various blades to be part of my basic polymer clay set up. I have a flexible and a rigid “tissue blade”, an xacto knife and, usually, a ripple blade. I may not use it much but slicing into blocks of mokume gane, as in Beth’s tutorial, is one of the perfect tasks for it.
The other ideal task, oddly, is making faux rick rack and ribbon candy.
The surface recipes book reference in the tutorial is a pretty good bit of inspiration. If you want to do more than very simple surface techniques it’s an excellent resource.
