Actually, this is just a great, simple way to make shiny clay leaves. The tutorial uses metallic spraypaint from Rustoleum which may or may not be permanent for clay – some sprays make polymer clay stick after a while – but you could just as easily paint with a compatible paint or airbrush with it. Or use leaf or mica powders on the raw clay. Using real leaves with the polymer through the pasta machine makes a great and delicate impression so I’ll have to give this a shot – I usually just press my leaves into the clay or use my brayer a little.
If you want to use these as place cards for table settings you could sketch or stamp in names. I think a dish of these leaves would be fun as a decoration, basically a polymer clay bowl filler.
