Looking forward to Halloween, here’s a string of handmade skull beads. You could add more beads or use a firmer clay and get more details on the beads. The tutorial comments that clay is pretty hard out of the package but conditioning small pieces of fresh clay should be fairly simple. If you ever find clay hard or it hurts your fingers, take a small piece and use a tool such as a roller to flatten or squish. Save the wear and tear on your hands.
If a tiny crumb of clay pulled off and squished in your fingers does not squish and smear and instead crumbles more, your clay has partially cured in storage and isn’t useful for this anymore. You can use it to add bulk into items or simply toss it.
