One of the most effective polymer clay techniques is marbling colours. You can make all sorts of great beads, colour mixes and faux materials such as wood or, in this case, stone. In this tutorial, the artist is creating larger pebble beads for a simple necklace. The approach is a great way to highlight the pretty stone shapes and colours.
If you hate sanding, you could lightly texture your stones with salt. Press salt into the stones, bake, rinse the salt off. Voila, textured beads.
