This one was supposed to be a Valentine’s Day project but I personally think monsters are suitable for any day of the year and hugging monsters are just the thing for a fun message. Stephanie shares a monster how-to that the kiddos would have a blast with.
When I teach kids classes one of the first sculpting projects we do is monsters. They always ask why not animals but since monsters or creatures don’t have a specific look, they work best – there’s no wrong way to do ’em. If you’re making a monster who’s body is bigger than a half inch thick you should scrunch up a wad of foil super tight and cover it in a thin layer of clay. This way there’s less baking needed for a sturdy kid-friendly monster.
