I made so many watermelon and other fruit beads this summer I was looking through my hoarded links for other Fimo fruit canes to play with. Here’s one from a French artist for a kiwi cane. The original is in French but here’s a translated version.
The artist is a little concerned in her post about the safety of clay and refers to Fimo as a toxic material not suitable for use by children. I’m on the other side of that fence and believe polymer clays are ideal for children old enough to not eat materials (or poke it in their eyes). All craft materials DO require common sense and clay can be awful when burned. Some of the common tools for clay are also items I’d probably avoid children using – 6 inch tissue blades and 6 year olds? Maybe not.
