Kaleidoscope canes are a bit of magic. I know you can plan them out, just like any other cane, but the mirror image and repetition effect is still always just a bit interesting. La Perle Rouge has a step by step on her blog with great pictures and good ideas for the components. If your French isn’t great here’s a link to the translation to go with. Google misses a few of the word nuances (it translates the French “cane” to “duck” at least once) but the pictures are excellent so it should work out.

How To Make A Milk Mache Molding Compound

There are some craft projects that feel like they belong on a rainy afternoon kitchen table, and this Milk Mache Molding Compound is exactly one of them. It is part craft, part science experiment, and part “wait… did we just turn milk into something solid?”

If the mixture is too wet, it will be soggy and hard to shape; if it is too dry, it may crumble.
