Sometimes out of all the fabulous art and huge shared tutorials out on the internet it’s the little hints and tips that have the biggest impact. The ah-has. Genevieve Williamson has a post about how to accurately size your rings made from clay. I’d go one step further and say that once you have that strip around your circle… bake that and use it as a blank to build your ring from.
When I make bangles I use a similar idea and make my aluminum armature and inner clay strip fit around a diameter I’ve picked.I have no idea why this didn’t automatically translate to ring making for me until I saw it in someone else’s words.
You should read Genevieve’s blog. She’s done some fabulous work and shares it well: there’s story attached to the pictures so you can follow along.
