Part of my Christi class last week was learning a little about her new line of metal coatings, patinas and dyes. They’re not actual paints though they go on like it. They are metal in paint form and the surface you cover has a thin coat of metal as a result which can then be patina’d or dyed as metal can.
Being a clay artist, Christi uses these (and markets them for use on) on her clay work. She has a downloadable pdf with info all about them and I recommend that as a starting place. On Facebook she has a Swellegant group to share tips and projects. There is a monthly contest as well for people who post their projects.
Heather Powers made a post about using swellegant for metal and polymer clay. It includes colour recipes and hints and tips that are particularly useful.
Once I dig in a bit more with the small set I got, I’ll post my results in a follow-up. If you’ve got any questions or comments on the product, just let me know and we’ll grab Christi and ask.
