I taught a lot of kid’s clay classes this fall! Towards the end we made ornaments and while I demonstrated ornament designs from my regular line – snowmen and penguins mostly – the kids had their own idea. There were lots of Pokeballs, which given the shape of glass ball ornaments makes sense. There were a fair share of birds based on the ones I’d done and other game related creatures.
One of the kids made her own elephant ornament. We brainstormed together how to turn a glass ball into an elephant without having to put every line and detail in. I sort of wish I’d seen this tutorial of Katie’s (of the always awesome KatersAcres) first though! Adorable elephant ornament the first try.
The main take away of this story is that everyone made great, personal, unique ornaments. And of more than 40 glass ball ornament projects this fall, mostly by kids, we only broke 3.
