Many of the clay project books out there have good mica powder projects in them so I’ll recommend my usual Sue Heaser’s Encyclopedia of Polymer Clay for a starter.
The shiny beetles above were from a swap for polymer clay bug pins I participated in, in 2009. Each set of bugs for the swap, I used a different technique and these were my mica powder beetles. Plain black clay bug shapes with interference powders and gold on top of the raw clay, pressed in gently. After baking, a coat of Varathane varnish to keep the powders in place.
