On with the running miniatures theme… now for a little cat in your dollhouse or fairy garden. This tutorial or walkthrough makes a fairly realistic cat with an armature. If you made a cat that was sitting or laying and didn’t have limbs sticking out you could probably save yourself the frustration with wire. That said, the wire in the cat here gives the critter a little life and stability. The pose he’s sculptured in is pretty much the quintessential strolling cat.
Don’t need your cat to be this tiny? Adjust your armature wires to a different gauge and, if necessary, use floral tape for extra bulk. Clay holds on to it just fine and smooths over it better than plain twisted wire.
