From experience, I know that you can actually cover USB drives themselves just fine and bake the whole works. The trick is to take the plastic cover off so it doesn’t melt. The internal electronics are just fine at clay temperatures.
If you’d prefer not to do that experiment, though, here’s a tutorial (and the translation) for making a USB flash drive “skin” that you then glue back on after baking. Cristalline shows a pretty lace decoration, and suggests others, but there’s no reason you can’t make a clever character out of the drive or personalize it in some way for a gift recipient.
