Since polymer clay is great for covering just about anything that doesn’t run away first… it’s no surprise people cover eggs for Easter decorations. Here’s one tutorial – complete with blowing out the egg, building a simple cane and finish work. You can, of course, go a lot crazier with the canework and the idea remains the same.
I’ve found a lot of plastic eggs bake just fine and you’re saved the bother of blowing out the eggs. The ones I purchased from the dollar store melted entertainingly but the ones I got at Walmart were fine one I poked a hole through each end for the warm air to leave. The moral being to test your egg before you cover it in your best canework. I covered them in a layer of scrap clay before putting cane slices on.
