If, like New Clayer Me, you couldn’t find a good snowflake cutter set and still wanted great, detailed snowflakes this idea was a bit of a lightbulb moment. Using a simple six petaled flower cutter – which is common in cutter sets – and a drinking straw you can make your own snowflake shapes. The tip comes from a pin I found on Pinterest rather than a fully formed article. I’ve linked to where the pin lives on the internet.
Sculpey.com has a variant on this using regular snowflake outline cutters and small Kemper cutters to add or subtract the details.
I found a set of snowflake cutters with both the outline cutters and the inside cutters to nip out details at Williams Sonoma last year in the Boxing Day sales. It’s pretty cool!
