This is a quick picture tutorial (in French but here’s a link to a translation) on how to get a bit of staggering in your canework colours. I use a version of this technique to get the texture in my Fimo flower cane petals fairly often. My daughter prefers this exact method – she’d rather use the pasta machine, as in this tutorial, and I often don’t bother – to get this effect. There’s a little exploration of the different effects you get by just a straight stagger or by mixing and interweaving between two stacks of staggered blends.
As an example, all of the in progress canes in this picture use this idea to add texture to the petals. I made my staggers much, much thinner than the pieces used in the above tutorial but same deal. The blue and orange flower is the mixing of two “stacks” of these.
