This tutorial makes a nice, subtle button – you could get a totally different effect with a bright coloured clay and a white wash – to match your sewing project.

I’ve never been able to find out how polyclay buttons can be washed. Can anyone tell me?

Hi Lucy! I’ve always wash the ones I’ve made in a gentle or normal cycle or by hand. Inside out so they’re protected from snagging. If you put it through the dryer, make sure it cools completely before you fuss with it but I recommend hand wash and air dry.

I’d say make a few and toss in a laundry bag or sock and put through a wash load to see how they do.
