She is constantly experimenting with techniques and tools for polymer clay, and is never stingy about sharing the results.

Her latest tutorial is for a geometric fish cane,  and she breaks it down into simple,  clear steps so that the complex cane is completely do-able.

“Christi Friesen has offered to do a 3 day workshop, April 17,18, & 19th, 2009. That’s 3 fun filled days of generously discounted classes. We can’t begin to thank Christi for her help in this event!!!

This workshop is a benefit event for polymer clay artist Ponsawan Silapiruti’s daughter Ada. Ponsawan is polymer clay jewelry artist living in Indianapolis and her work has been featured several times on Polymer Clay Daily.

You may know the story: On March 2,2008, Ada was a vibrant, caring young woman full of life, excitement, and promise. On March 3rd 2008 she was in a coma with brain damage and broken bones. Hit by a drunk driver that sustained no damage. The world changed for Ponsawan, Ada and their family.

Ada is home now being lovingly cared for by her mother. Ponsawan has found it in her heart to forgive the drunk driver (she is a better person than I am). Ponsawan rejoices in Ada’s small accomplishments; a glance here, moving her hand. Progress is slow but the expense of caring for Ada, even at home, isn’t slow and continues to mount.

The Houston Polymer Clay guild has announced their Lone Star Retreat 2009. They have three stellar instructors booked for this event, Kim Cavendar will be teaching “Faux Sticks and Stones,” Dayle Doroshow will be teaching “Shimmering Rattle Beads,” and Barbara McGuire will be teaching “Mokume Gane Collage Pendant.”  Sounds like a fabulous and inspiring time!

That Creative Place urges you to “Unleash your Creativity” with their selection of online classes.  They have polymer clay classes available from such artists as Barb Fajardo, Layl McDill, Dayle Doroshow, and Christi Friesen.  Lessons are sent out via email, so you can work on your own schedule and at your own pace, but there is also the resource of a message board available to interact with the instructors and other members of your class.

The first IPCA Retreat will be held from July 11-15, 2009. There will be a Welcome Reception on July 11 and check-out will be the morning of July 15. The event will be held at the fabulous Hilton Chicago Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois. Our special rate is $99 (plus taxes) for single OR double occupancy.
