Last year Wendy Jorre de St. Jorre made a LOT of tree canes. She applied those canes to her pieces and shared both the finished work and the how-tos for many of those designs. Her meticulously finished pieces are lovely and showcase the canework in interesting ways. I’ve always had a little trouble understanding how one would use larger, more complex landscape type canes in a cohesive design preferring instead to apply many simpler cane slices. Wendy has the knack.
The potted kumquat cane above is one of the ones she has graciously shared the steps for on her Flickr photostream. The whole stream is full of inspiration, other tutorials and lovely pieces. You can also visit her shop.
