Because I don’t sew or knit – or do much in the way of any fibre art – I tend to not use buttons much. Which means when I get asked to make them I’m always a little mystified. I’ve made 100s of thousands of beads by this point but just a few buttons and each time remains a bit of a challenge. Ginger, from the Blue Bottle Tree, has a great primer on clay buttons. She gives a quickie tutorial on how to make simple buttons as well as options for buttons with shanks.
As always, you should poke through Ginger’s site. There’s a wealth of good clay info in there.
